Creio não precisarmos escrever muitas coisas para chegarmos a revelação do que é a Igreja de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo (Mt.16.16-18; At.20.28).

Faço esta afirmação com base nas escrituras, que nos ajudam a compreender o que é Igreja utilizando exemplos simples e profundos.

Que tremenda honra Deus concedeu a seu povo! Meus irmãos, nós somos mais importantes do que imaginamos!

Vejamos:

“Assim, já não sois estrangeiros e peregrinos, mas concidadãos dos santos, e sois da família de Deus,” (Ef.2.19)
→ A igreja é a família de Deus.

“edificados sobre o fundamento dos apóstolos e profetas, sendo ele mesmo, Cristo Jesus, a pedra angular; 21no qual todo o edifício, bem ajustado, cresce para santuário dedicado ao Senhor, 22no qual também vós juntamente estais sendo edificados para habitação de Deus no Espírito.” (Ef.2.20-22)
→ A igreja é o edifício; o santuário; o templo; a habitação de Deus.

“Chegando-vos para ele, a pedra que vive, rejeitada, sim, pelos homens, mas para com Deus eleita e preciosa, 5também vós mesmos, como pedras que vivem, sois edificados casa espiritual para serdes sacerdócio santo, a fim de oferecerdes sacrifícios espirituais agradáveis a Deus por intermédio de Jesus Cristo. Vós, porém, sois raça eleita, sacerdócio real, nação santa, povo de propriedade exclusiva de Deus, a fim de proclamardes as virtudes daquele que vos chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz” (1Pe.2.4,5,9)
→ A igreja é a casa espiritual;
→ A igreja é a raça eleita;
→ A igreja é o povo sacerdotal; sacerdócio santo; sacerdócio real;
→ A igreja é a nação santa;
→ A igreja é o povo de propriedade exclusiva de Deus.

“Porque assim como num só corpo temos muitos membros, mas nem todos os membros têm a mesma função, 5assim também nós, conquanto muitos, somos um só corpo em Cristo e membros uns dos outros” (Rm.12.4,5); “Ora, vós sois corpo de Cristo; e, individualmente, membros desse corpo.” (1Co.12.27); “E pôs todas as coisas debaixo dos pés e, para ser o cabeça sobre todas as coisas, o deu à igreja, 23a qual é o seu corpo, a plenitude daquele que a tudo enche em todas as coisas.” (Ef.1.22,23)
→ A igreja é o corpo de Cristo.

“As mulheres sejam submissas ao seu próprio marido, como ao Senhor; 23porque o marido é o cabeça da mulher, como também Cristo é o cabeça da igreja, sendo este mesmo o salvador do corpo. 24Como, porém, a igreja está sujeita a Cristo, assim também as mulheres sejam em tudo submissas ao seu marido. 25Maridos, amai vossa mulher, como também Cristo amou a igreja e a si mesmo se entregou por ela, 26para que a santificasse, tendo-a purificado por meio da lavagem de água pela palavra, 27para a apresentar a si mesmo igreja gloriosa, sem mácula, nem ruga, nem coisa semelhante, porém santa e sem defeito. 28Assim também os maridos devem amar a sua mulher como ao próprio corpo. Quem ama a esposa a si mesmo se ama. 29Porque ninguém jamais odiou a própria carne; antes, a alimenta e dela cuida, como também Cristo o faz com a igreja; 30porque somos membros do seu corpo. 31Eis por que deixará o homem a seu pai e a sua mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, e se tornarão os dois uma só carne. 32Grande é este mistério, mas eu me refiro a Cristo e à igreja.” (Ef.5.22-32); “Então, ouvi uma como voz de numerosa multidão, como de muitas águas e como de fortes trovões, dizendo: Aleluia! Pois reina o Senhor, nosso Deus, o Todo-Poderoso. 7Alegremo-nos, exultemos e demos-lhe a glória, porque são chegadas as bodas do Cordeiro, cuja esposa a si mesma já se ataviou, 8pois lhe foi dado vestir-se de linho finíssimo, resplandecente e puro. Porque o linho finíssimo são os atos de justiça dos santos.” (Ap.19.6-8);
→ A igreja é a noiva de Cristo.

What is the church?

I don’t believe that it is necessary to have extensive writing explanations in order for us to attain the revelation of what the church of our lord Jesus Christ is (Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 20:28).

I affirm this based on the scriptures, as they help us to understand what the church is by using simple and profound examples.

What a tremendous honor has God conceived to his people! Brothers and sisters, we are more important than we imagine so!

Let’s see:

“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.” (Ephesians 2.19)
→ The Church is God’s family

“We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.” (Ephesians 2.20-22)
→ The Church is the building; the sanctuary; the temple; the dwelling of God.

“You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God…you are a chosen people. You are royal priests a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1Peter 2.4, 5, 9)
→ The Church is the spiritual house;
→ The Church is the chosen generation;
→ The Church is the priesthood; royal priesthood, holy priesthood;
→ The Church is a holy nation;
→ The Church is God’s very own possession.

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” (Romans 12:4, 5); “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” (1Corinthians.12.27); “God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.” (Ephesians 1.22, 23)
→ The Church is body of Christ.

“For wives, this means submit to your husband as to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husband in everything.
25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. 29 No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church. 30 And we are members of his body.31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Ephesians.5.22-32); “Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear. For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people” (Revelation 19.6-8);
→ The Church is the bride of Christ.
